Thermal Degradation Kinetics of a Novel Pyrazole Based Copolymer [poly(1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl methacrylate-co-styrene)]

In the present study, a new copolymer containing pyrazole substituted 1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl methacrylate (DPMA) and styrene (St) units, [poly(DPMA-co-St)], was synthesized. Thermal degradation kinetics of system investigated in detail with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) technique. An increase thermal stability from 252.02 °C to 274.89 observed depending on change heating rate (5 °C/min – 20 °C/min). The activation energies were 149.37 kJ/mol 140.99 kJ/mol, respectively, Kissinger Flynn-Wall-Ozawa methods conversion range 9% - 21%. mechanism light different kinetic such as Coats-Redfern, Tang, Madhusudanan, Van-Krevelen Horowitz-Metzger. results showed that decomposition proceeds through one-dimensional diffusion-type deceleration mechanism, namely D1 at optimum °C/min, especially according Coats-Redfern method.

The title compound, C(21)H(17)N(3), crystallizes with the phenyl ring in the 3-position coplanar with the pyrazole ring within 4.04 (5)°, whereas the phenyl ring in the 5-position forms a dihedral angle of 50.22 (3)° with the pyrazole ring.
